Furniture Care Guide
Timber
Dos:
- Use dry, soft cloth to remove dust from timber furniture.
- Use only timber-safe cleaning agents. Harsh chemicals and cleaners can discolour or damage the finish.
- Use coasters, placemats and tablecloths when dining to protect timber furniture.
Don'ts
- Place beverages directly on the surface of timber furniture. Cold or warm drinks, flower vases and bottles of chilled wine can transfer water and humidity onto timber table, leaving white rings if moisture gets trapped under them.
- Place hot serving dishes onto timber furniture as heat will melt the finish or burn the wood.
- Let stains or spills set.
- Place timber furniture directly under the sun.
- Place timber furniture directly next to heating or air-conditioning vents.
Leather
Dos:
- Nourish and condition leather furniture with suitable leather-cleaning products. Always patch test maintenance product before using it on leather furniture.
- Regularly clean and dust leather furniture with soft cloth to maintain its finish and prevent it from getting dull over time.
- Be careful with sharp objects that could pierce or scratch leather furniture.
Don'ts
- Expose leather furniture to direct sunlight or place next to heating vents as heat will cause leather to dry out and crack.
- Let stains or spills set.
Fabric Upholstery
Dos:
- Attend spilled liquid immediately by blotting area with soft, lightly damp cloth.
- Gently vacuum the upholstery as part of your regular housekeeping.
- Use gentle cleaner for your fabric upholstery. Always patch test maintenance product before using it on fabric upholstery.
Don'ts
- Place furniture directly under the sun as this can cause fading.
- Allow the spilled liquid to set. This will leave stains on the furniture.
- Use harsh cleaning agents or chemicals as they can discolour or stain upholstery.
